An electret route is part of a filtration system
Electret masterbatch can support charge storage in PP meltblown media, but the measured filtration result does not come from the masterbatch alone. Resin flow, fiber formation, web structure, basis weight, charging conditions and sample conditioning all influence efficiency and pressure drop.
For that reason, a material comparison should begin with the finished-media target and the complete process route rather than an isolated efficiency number.
Specify the charging route before selecting the product route
Electrical charging and water-electret processing are different production routes. They can require different equipment, operating conditions and evaluation plans. A request for “electret masterbatch” is therefore incomplete until the current or intended charging method is confirmed.
Efficiency and pressure drop must be read together
A filtration medium is normally judged by both particle capture and airflow resistance. A higher efficiency result is not automatically better if pressure drop moves outside the accepted range. Record aerosol type, flow rate, sample area, conditioning and the applicable test standard so trial results can be compared on the same basis.

Charge retention needs an aged result
An initial measurement shows only the starting condition. Storage time, temperature, humidity, packaging and any heat-aging protocol can change the retained charge and the finished-media result. The trial plan should include the required conditioning or aging checkpoints instead of relying only on a fresh sample.
A practical first-review checklist
Share the PP resin and MFI condition, line and die information, target basis weight, charging route, filtration standard, efficiency and pressure-drop limits, and any aging requirement. This gives the application team enough information to define a sensible comparison without turning a material data sheet into a finished-filter guarantee.
